LGBTQ+

It's June Pride month as I write this.  Outside of Northfield Community Acupuncture and Qigong I'm a parent ally with three teenagers-- two of whom identify with one or more categories in the LGBTQ+ acronym.  Inside of Northfield Community Acupuncture I'm a professional ally caring for all who show up in a general stand that Community Acupuncture Clinics all across the country are taking every day  to welcome all humans including those who are working class and members of traditionally marginalized groups (see People's Organization of Community Acupuncture (POCA)). More specifically I've supported dozens in the LGBTQ+ community including several transgender individuals as they've moved through their transitions and benefited from both the acupuncture and the "welcoming of all" community treatment space.

It's going to be a full month!  Pride in the Park is Happening tomorrow and I'm sad I wasn't able to get my own booth this time around.  But two of my teens will be there supporting both the Key and Cyan!  I'm so grateful for both these organizations! Later next week I see there's a Carleton Breakfast Club meeting related to transgender health.  Ironically I won't be able to attend as a very dear to me trans person will be undergoing surgery that same day and providing yet another opportunity to celebrate healing in the LGBTQ+ community by providing post-op complementary care!

In Celebration of June Pride, Northfield Community Acupuncture and Qigong is offering BOGO community acupuncture treatments all month when you come in with a partner, friend, or family member (basically any human you're at mutual choice in coming in with) displaying your Pride colors (however you like to do that). There's a coupon out there with more details.

Yoga Reimagined

Okay, so that’s not me. And Yoga hasn’t been one of my movement mainstays. But I do like to move in different ways and explore new perspectives on life! Hopefully I will find the time to share more fully (in small increments) about my movement oriented focus when it comes to my holistic healing multipronged approach to letting go off what is sometimes referred to as embodied childhood trauma— this is not a quick undertaking and I won’t pretend I’ve reached the end of this process even though I’ve been actively working on it for over 30 years. In more recent times I’ve connected with embodiment resources and implemented practices that invite me to feel that which I’ve previously numbed myself out so I can identify what I’ve been doing in my body both in feeling disempowered and overwhelmed and then with new options to act on in subjectively feeling more resourceful, responsive, and present on a personal level while more connected with the people and environment around me.

I won’t say much more as this is not a cognitive process at least in terms of what’s been most powerful for me to directly experience!

Look for additional details on this blog. Paradoxically my story doesn’t help me as much as my embodiment practices when it comes to feeling more present and skillful.
